What Customers Say About Samsung LN40A630 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color:

Easy to set up and a wide variety of settings to get the best picture. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking to purchase a HD TV.

Be realistic and buy quality over quantity like I did. The size is truly all you need too many people are buying sets that are too large for thier space and just a burden on the pocketbook. Can't say enough about Samsung, while doing comparisons in the Fall of 2008 Samsung had the edge on all other brands. I put a fence around mine to keep the kids away.

We selected this model because of its unique size for a 40-inch TV that fit perfectly in our space. We have several LCD TVs and by far the Samsung has the clearest picture.

Very annoying.4. 3. The only reason I'm not awarding it 5 stars is because it lacks some basic TV functionality:1. When the unit is off, it has a red light next to the on/off button which is annoying if you have the TV in your room.Overall I still consider the image quality to be worth putting up with the hindrances. 2. After conducting exhaustive research for my new 1080p TV to watch Blu-Rays on, I found the 630 to be the best value for money out there (as of feb-2009).

Strongly recommend this feature if your room has lots of light. As an image panel, it works beautifully. The remote must be pointed exactly at the "eye" at the correct angle or it won't respond. Image quality is every bit as good as others say, DVDs look crisp and bright. It takes about 2-3 seconds to turn on/off and has a little sound effect, which is also disturbing when someone in the room is sleeping. But if I had paid attention to the problems with the TV functionality itself, I might have picked another TV. The 630 series has the semi-matte finish which works great for me because the room is brightly lit and would be impossible to watch on the reflective screens on the 650 series and the like.

It doesn't have a Sleep feature, which I sorely miss.

This was a little larger than I had originally intended to buy, but smaller ones lacked features (like 120 Hz) that I wanted, although I am sure they will have them in the future. My old TV played through my (also aging) stereo system; its internal speakers were sort of tinny-sounding.As for the "red touch of color" on the frame, it is scarcely noticeable and should not really enter into anyone's decision, pro or con, regarding purchase of this model.

It is not really annoying, but I am hoping there won't be more of them in the future. I don't know why they bother putting it in; as far as anyone can tell, the border is black, period. My only concern at this point, a month or so after installation, is a single green dot of light that appears in the lower left area whenever the TV is on, whether receiving a signal or not.

Having upgraded to Verizon FiOS, I decided to take advantage of its HD capability, even though my 15 year old Philips TV was still working fine. One of CR's points that clinched the deal for me was the hi-fi sound from this TV's internal speakers.

I'll be calling Samsung to find out whether this point of light can be eliminated. I wanted to buy an HDTV just once (I am over 70), so I got this one, which Consumer Reports currently rates highest among 40-inch LCD models.

The image is really beautiful--crisp, beautiful color (without altering any of the factory settings).
